This page documents my effort to package the
ParMETIS distributed
graph/mesh partitioning and fill-reducing sparse matrix reordering tool for the
Debian operating system. ParMETIS is mostly used for finite element (and
finite volume) simulations run on parallel architectures, for load balancing
with minimized "cut" between the processors' data to reduce the communication
load.
Package description:
There are just two packages now: the header file and shared libs in
parmetis-dev and the documentation and examples in parmetis-doc.
Questions/issues:
- Some of the tests seem to be failing, I'll have to look into that.
To do (in roughly decreasing order of priority):
Finished projects:
- Got Karypis' approval for upload 2003/3/24, ITPd that day.
- First packaging and upload 2003/3/27. :-)
- Add shared libs to the existing static ones. Shouldn't be too hard, but
I'll wait for it to be accepted into Debian before working on this. DONE in
3.0-3.
